About Hello Razr

Why this site exists

My first smartphone was a Motorola MPx200. If you don’t know it — I don’t blame you — it was 2004, running Windows Mobile 2003. I loved the clamshell form factor so much that I built a fan site for it and worked on a Czech localisation pack. A friend developed a better keyboard input method, we bundled it together and eventually sold that localisation. My first ever online income, from something I made because I genuinely liked a phone.

Then iPhones happened and I stayed in that world for the next 15 years. The original 2G was a revelation. But somewhere around the 10 or 11, that feeling faded and a different feeling set in — same rectangle, better cameras, new colours that were somehow all the same colour. I stayed on the 13 Pro Max for a while because I couldn’t find a reason to upgrade, not because I was particularly happy with it. I’m a pretty standard phone user (my wife would confirm this).

The Razr caught my eye because the form factor felt different. There’s some nostalgia in there too — I won’t pretend otherwise. But a phone that folds in half still feels surprising every time you do it, in a way that a slightly faster chip doesn’t.

I switched to the Razr 60 Ultra. This site is what came out of that. I was surprised by how little useful independent information existed — specs scattered across manufacturer pages, Reddit threads for troubleshooting, review sites that move on after launch week. So I’m building the resource I wish I’d had.
